Allambie Bush Kindy

Today I celebrate Allambie Bush Kindy for being named as a finalist in the annual Excellence in Early Childhood Education Awards. The centre landed nominations in five big categories: the Excellence Award for Large Private Metropolitan Service, Excellence in Environmental Program, Excellence in Community Involvement, Excellence in Multicultural Program and the Young Female Educator Excellence Award. That is a huge effort. The centre's beloved bush kindy program is now in its tenth year. Three mornings a week, the bushland above Manly Dam becomes the classroom. Children learn to spot plants and wildlife species, learn about sustainability and turn sand, leaves and sticks into art. Educators map progress against the Early Years Learning Framework and grow confidence and resilience in their students that carries into primary school. It is hands‑on learning, fresh air and community pride in a package. It shows how Wakehurst raises curious, capable kids while caring for nature. Well done to Allambie Bush Kindy. I thank its staff for their hard work supporting the children in our community.
