I am proud to recognise Amelie Hunziker of the Forest Lions AFL Club, whose achievements in Australian rules football and Cross Country demonstrate her impressive commitment to sport. This year, Amelie represented the Forest Lions in the Under 17 Youth Girls Division 2 competition, and was recognised at the SHJAFL Association Awards, finishing second in her division. She was a part of Forest Lions biggest group ever attending the awards ceremony. Amelie's sporting achievements extend well beyond AFL. In 2022, competing for Killarney Heights High School, she finished third in the Sydney North Cross Country Championship 3000 metre race and was selected in the Sydney North team. Her commitment to running continued in subsequent years. At the 2024 Sydney North Secondary Cross Country Championships, Amelie competed in the 4000 metre event finishing a hard fought 9th. Amelie's ability to compete at a high level across multiple sports is a wonderful example of the immense talent that is coming out of Northern Beaches. I congratulate Amelie on her achievements and recognise the dedication she continues to show to her teammates, coaches, school and community.
