I congratulate Andy Tang, a student at the Forest High School, on his outstanding success in the 2025 Northern Beaches Council young filmmakers competition. This year's theme for the competition was "Connection", and out of more than 150 submissions from other young filmmakers, Andy's film Why Connecting? stood out. It was recognised with three major awards: best storytelling, best actor, and best film in the 15- to 18-year-old category. In his short film within a film, Andy discusses the meaning of connection with a clone of himself, interviews himself as the director, and mimics both a British sitcom and a Shakespearean play. The awards are a testament to Andy's creative vision, artistry and truly incredible talent. I am truly proud to see such young talent being supported in my community. To be acknowledged in multiple categories is an exceptional achievement and speaks volumes of his potential. I congratulate Andy and everyone who submitted to the competition. I wish the amazing Andy all the best and good luck for future projects. Well done.
