Collaroy Giants

I congratulate the Collaroy Giants from Collaroy Surf Life Saving Club on their outstanding achievement at Aussies 2026. The Giants claimed gold in the Open Women's Surf Boat division, an extraordinary national result against the very best crews in the country. This was the first time the Giants have claimed gold in 80 years. It is an extraordinary achievement, and one that will always hold firm in the history of the club. I particularly congratulate crew members Jessica Layton, Rhiannon Lea, Alysha Lerond and Kelly Trim, together with their sweep, Mark Anderson. This achievement is a credit to a team of inspiring, hardworking leaders, who have represented Collaroy and the Northern Beaches with enormous pride. Surf boat rowing is one of the most demanding events in surf lifesaving. It requires strength, discipline and absolute trust between every member of the crew. To win at this level takes countless early mornings, tough training sessions, composure under pressure and a deep commitment to each other and to the club. The Giants have shown exactly what can be achieved through teamwork, determination and belief. I congratulate Jessica, Rhiannon, Alysha, Kelly and Mark, along with their coaches, supporters and the broader Collaroy Surf Life Saving Club community, on this remarkable national title.
