Community Recognition Statement - Fisher Road School

Today I congratulate Fisher Road School in Dee Why on their 50 years as a leader in special education for students from kindergarten to year 12. Fisher Road School students present with high support needs due to intellectual disability. Many of the students also have additional physical, emotional and sensory issues.

The school's emphasis is on high‑quality education and authentic learning for all its students, who are involved in learning that is fun and stimulating. The milestone is a wonderful achievement for this excellent school. It prioritises communication skills with each classroom, such as having internet‑linked computers, ensuring skill development in adaptive technology for all students. I thank the school's progressive and passionate teachers, who are on a journey of continuous improvement. I celebrate the dynamic and innovative staff and the school community who have made Fisher Road School such a success over these past 50 years. I love your work.
