Community Recognition Statement - Northern Beaches Secondary College Cromer Campus

Last week, Northern Beaches Secondary College Cromer Campus, a comprehensive high school from Northern Sydney, won the under-16 division two Basketball NSW State Championships.

This competition is open to all public and private schools across New South Wales. The coach of the team is the school principal, Mr Hong. He could not be prouder of the boys for this rare and amazing achievement. Cromer Campus defeated a Newcastle independent school in the semifinal. Tumut High School defeated a Sydney independent school in the semifinal.

Two of our amazing public schools, Tumut and Cromer, fought it out in the grand final. Tumut finished as the runner-up, with Cromer Campus taking home the gold medal. This is an incredible achievement considering Cromer Campus does not have a full-sized indoor basketball court. It has only outdoor concrete courts and a short indoor court to practice on. The school community revelled in this success, with the school's Facebook post instantly receiving more than 100 likes, comments and shares. This is a great story from a great public school that punches well above its weight. I congratulate the winning students and principal.
