I recognise Dee Johnson for her extraordinary dedication to volunteering over many decades. Over her lifetime Dee has contributed to countless organisations, including as a Girl Guides leader, a Lifeline telephone counsellor, an emergency services volunteer and even a Clean Up Australia volunteer. For the past 16 years Dee has volunteered at Lifeline Northern Beaches at the Brookvale book depot, and for the past nine years she has been a dedicated volunteer with the Cancer Council in Frenchs Forest. What stands out most is her unwavering enthusiasm. At 87, she continues to independently catch the 280 bus to and from her volunteer work each day. Dee embodies selfless service. She gives her time and energy without seeking recognition, yet her impact is deeply felt across a wide section of our community. It is only fitting that Dee has been recognised as one of the 2026 Wakehurst Local Seniors of the Year. Dee is an absolute inspiration.
