I'd like to recognise Mariam Ad for the valuable work she is doing to raise awareness about the experiences and challenges faced by migrants in my community. As both a psychiatrist and an immigrant, Mariam brings a unique perspective to important conversations around identity, belonging and mental health. In her recent interview with SBS, she spoke about some of the less visible experiences of migration and the challenges that can come with adapting to a new culture while also maintaining a connection to your identity and background. By sharing both her personal experiences and professional knowledge, Mariam is helping encourage greater understanding, compassion and inclusion within our diverse community. These conversations are incredibly important, particularly for people who may be experiencing similar challenges and feeling like they are navigating life between two different worlds. Thank you, Mariam, for sharing your story and for the positive contribution you continue to give to our community.
