Martin Meredith, OAM

Today I acknowledge a hardworking Wakehurst constituent, Martin Meredith, who was recently awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia as part of this year's Australia Day Honours. There is no doubt that Martin is a rugby league diehard.

He has dedicated much of his life to serving the community as a rugby league administrator at all levels, from grassroots to the elite competitions. Locally, he played with the Manly-Warringah Rugby League Football Club from 1977 to 1987 and coached the Narrabeen Sharks Under 17s team from 2010-2011 and the Under 19s team from 2011-2012. Martin also spent a number of years managing the Australian Junior Kangaroos team and selection committee, and was the manager of the NRL's Affiliated States League from 2016 to 2020. Currently he serves as Chair of Wheelchair Rugby League Australia, which is doing exceptional work to ensure everyone has an equal opportunity to play this awesome sport. A huge congratulations to you, Martin. This award is very well deserved, and our community is incredibly proud of all that you have achieved.
