NSW Budget 2023-24 has delivered a funding boost to fast-track safety improvements and flood
protection along Wakehurst Parkway.
Delivering on a Minns Government election commitment, a further $13.1 million has been allocated
for flood mitigation work to be delivered in conjunction with Northern Beaches Council. This funding
is on top of the $18 million committed in 2020.

The Budget also includes $4.9 million as part of a total $75 million commitment for safety and
capacity upgrades along a 9.5km section of the Parkway from Narrabeen to Frenchs Forest.
Safety and traffic flow improvements are proposed between:
• Trefoil Creek and Dreadnought Road intersection
• Dreadnought Road to Oxford Falls Road
• Elanora Road and Mirrool Street
Community consultation is due to start in October, with work expected to start in late-2024.
Minister for Roads John Graham said:
“Wakehurst Parkway is a key link for the northern beaches and it’s no secret that it is prone to
congestion, flooding, delays and safety issues.
“This funding commitment will help reduce crashes while increasing capacity and traffic flow.
Independent Member for Wakehurst Michael Regan said:
“The Wakehurst Parkway has been in dire need of upgrades for decades now, while it has the
unenviable reputation of being one of the most dangerous roads on the Northern Beaches. This
money will be vital in both improving safety on the road, and helping to mitigate the impact of
flooding on this crucial artery.
“After many years of frustration, the confirmation of this funding is a win for the people of
Wakehurst and the Northern Beaches. I’m looking forward to seeing these crucial upgrades
delivered.”
