I am proud to recognise the outstanding work of One Meal Northern Beaches and the volunteers who make its vital services possible. One Meal is entirely volunteer-run and provides dignified access to nutritious food for people experiencing hardship. Across Greater Sydney, more than 1,000 volunteers help the organisation serve over 50,000 meals each month. Here in Wakehurst, One Meal has partnered with Fisher Road School and Cromer High School to turn surplus food into nutrient-rich compost. Students help manage compost bins and worm farms while learning about sustainability, soil health and waste reduction. Some of the resulting compost is distributed to community gardens and social housing projects, helping vulnerable communities grow their own food. With registrations now open for One Meal's annual Christmas Hamper Appeal, I encourage everyone who can contribute to get involved. I thank One Meal, its volunteers and participating schools for their compassion, generosity and service to our community.
