Paying tribute to Santo Severino

Today I honour the life of Santo Severino, a beloved member of our community who sadly passed away last week at the age of 74. Santo was a remarkable man with an extraordinary presence. Born in Italy, Santo immigrated to Australia in the 1950s, building a life defined by resilience, family and community.

With his wife, Alba, Santo established the Miramare Gardens function centre, a well-known and much‑loved establishment in our community. They helped create lasting memories for countless couples. A businessman, builder and past president of Brookvale Rotary, Santo was a generous friend and mentor to many. Santo was a proud and caring family man, cherished by his devoted wife, Alba, their four children and numerous grandchildren as well as great-grandchildren. He built not just a successful career but a close-knit family that will continue to carry his memory. His passion extended beyond business; he advocated for public spaces, particularly Dee Why beachfront, which he championed as public space for recreation and dining. His charm, warmth and impromptu wedding singing will be dearly missed. May he rest in peace, knowing his legacy will live on in all who knew him.
