I am pleased to recognise Simon Waddington, who is stepping down as fifth-grade captain of the Manly Warringah District Cricket Club after more than a decade of dedicated leadership. Known throughout our local cricket community as 'Waddo', Simon has been a true legend of the Waratahs. A former first-grade player and premiership winner, he has generously shared his experience with generations of emerging players, helping them develop their skills and confidence both on and off the field. Waddo also played a key role in establishing the very successful women's program. Simon's caring nature, passion for cricket and commitment to his teammates have made him an outstanding captain, mentor and clubman. Although he is stepping back from full-time playing, his influence will be felt across the club for many years to come. I congratulate Simon and thank him for his remarkable service to cricket on the Northern Beaches.
