Currently there is very little bus priority along Warringah Road, even though buses are the only public transport option.
The NSW Government is starting the conversation about increasing bus prioritisation on Warringah Road. There is no detailed proposal or imminent decision, but we have an opportunity right now to help shape the future direction. A Metro and or heavy rail is not in any current or former government plans going back to 2012. This poll is about right now. A desire to push for a short – medium term solution for our existing bus network and getting to the Metro quicker.
I’m doing this poll as a temperature check. Your feedback helps me understand what the community is thinking.
Bus lanes: only buses are allowed.
Transit lanes: only cars carrying a certain number of passengers are allowed.
These rules can apply all day or for certain times of day (e.g.: peak hours).
Prioritising road space for buses means they move faster, bypassing other traffic. This gets passengers where they want to go faster and makes public transport more attractive, helping reduce traffic congestion.
However, this also means less space for private cars, potentially making traffic congestion worse in those lanes.
