The Late Mr Richard Lindsay Gordon, OAM

I acknowledge and congratulate the family of the late Mr Richard Lindsay Gordon OAM, who has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in the King's Birthday Honours for service to the communities of Killarney Heights and Forestville. Mr Gordon gave decades of service to our local area, including through the Forestville War Memorial Playing Fields Committee, where he served as President from 2009 to 2023, and as a member for nearly three decades. He also made an important contribution to local remembrance, coordinating the ANZAC Memorial Pathway and helping design and supervise the Forestville Shopping Centre Memorial. Mr Gordon's service through Forestville RSL, Neighbourhood Watch Killarney Heights, the Killarney Heights Progress Association and as a Justice of the Peace speaks to a life of quiet, practical and sustained community service. I thank Mr Gordon's family for sharing him with our community. This honour is a fitting recognition of a life of service.
