Today I congratulate seven local recipients of Scouts Australia Adult Recognition Awards, recognising their outstanding service to Scouting and our community. Stephen Saltay received the Silver Koala Award, while Lyn Adams was honoured with the Silver Emu Award. Ilona Cook, Naomi Dean and Rebecca Humphries received Meritorious Service Awards, and Glenys Beaumont and Caterina Teofilo received Special Service Awards. Behind each award are countless hours devoted to helping young people learn, grow and discover what they can achieve. Scouting gives young people opportunities to develop practical skills, build friendships and take on challenges in a supportive environment. Its success depends on adults who generously share their time, experience and encouragement. Through their service, these recipients help nurture leadership, resilience, respect for nature and a willingness to contribute to the wider community. Their influence can stay with a young person long after a camp, activity or achievement badge. I thank Stephen, Lyn, Ilona, Naomi, Rebecca, Glenys and Caterina for their dedication and congratulate them on this deserved recognition. Our Northern Beaches community is stronger for their example and commitment.
