Community Recognition Statement - Men's Kitchen Association

On behalf of the Wakehurst electorate, I acknowledge and thank the Men's Kitchen Association for its incredible work in establishing and maintaining a safe community space for older men to learn culinary skills.

It was great to visit recently and participate in a cooking class—to be fair, I just ate everything! It was a lot of fun. Since its opening in Forestville in 2015, the not-for-profit organisation has committed to supporting thousands of males aged 60 and over living on the northern beaches. It provides a safe and instructive environment for skills development in meal preparation, whether the men are living alone, assuming this responsibility for others, or just wanting to learn.

This valuable work in supporting the community is commendable, and I thank the Men's Kitchen Association for the positive difference that it is making and has made in our community.

I encourage all MPs to contact me about starting up a men's kitchen in their local area. All they need is a community centre and a small kitchen and, yes, they are expanding.
