Peninsula Seniors Toy Recyclers

I recognise the Peninsula Seniors Toy Recyclers on their fiftieth anniversary. Since 1975 the amazing volunteer crew has rescued and repaired many thousands of toys, games and kids' bikes, keeping them out of landfill and redistributing them to underprivileged children in particular. Their team clean and mend toys at their base, The Hub in Ingleside, and match items for rehoming to organisations on the northern beaches, in rural areas and right around the world through 80 charities such as Rotary and Lions clubs. To mark their incredible milestone and celebrate National Recycling Week, the recyclers are hosting a community toy drop-off day at Kimbriki on Saturday 15 November from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. There will be guided workshop tours and hands-on activities. I encourage families to bring in their preloved or new toys, books, puzzles, kids' bikes, games and sporting gear for re-use. I thank Terry Cook and all the volunteers for 50 years of service to our community. They make such a big difference for children and the environment. Here's to many more years ahead.
