I congratulate Collaroy Plateau Cricket Club on its 70‑year anniversary. This achievement is a source of great pride for the club, as its continuity is a historic reflection of the growth of the Collaroy Plateau suburb and community itself. After being founded by key members Vic Huxley, Geoff "Chippy" Browne and Barry Harland, the club held its first match in 1955.
It was not until the 1963-64 season that the club was able to develop proper playing fields at Collaroy Plateau Park. For many years, the park has been an essential space for players and the community, myself included, to congregate and share in the joy of a game of cricket under the watchful gaze of the water tower. Over the past 70 years, the Collaroy Plateau Cricket Club has been an integral part of many Collaroy Plateau family lives. I give special mention to the family members of the club's founding members who are carrying on their forebears' legacy as active members, including Col and Jocelyn Huxley, Vicki Carden, Tom Carden and the sole remaining foundational member, Frank Huxley. I congratulate the club on this remarkable milestone. Here's to another 70 years.
