HopeNest

Today I recognise the work of HopeNest, a not‑for‑profit dedicated to supporting severely injured children from war-affected areas to gain access to life‑saving medical treatment in Sydney. Through tireless advocacy, HopeNest navigates complex legal and bureaucratic systems to ensure these children can reach safety and begin their long journey of healing. Currently it is advocating for two sisters from Gaza, named Hanan and Mesk, who are aged just three and two years old. They both lost limbs during a bombing that also tragically claimed the life of their mother. I can only imagine the horrors and brutality that Hanan and Mesk have seen and experienced. In the face of such tragedy, HopeNest embodies compassion and resilience. I particularly acknowledge the courage and commitment of HopeNest founder Tatiana Salazar, who lives in my community. I honour her courage and commitment. HopeNest is a powerful testament to the strength of community and the enduring spirit to protect one another in times of crisis. Well done, Tatiana.
